One Busy Summer

We’ve enjoyed a brilliant summer at Smith Studios, making commercial images, corporate videos and even a couple small getaways. I wanted to share a few highlights from some of our favourite projects and hopefully, give you a few reasons to invest in commercial photography and corporate media.

One of my favourite clients (I know we shouldn’t play favourites, lol) is Wendy Flanagan of The Holistic Home, New Romney, Kent. Wendy got in touch through my referral networking group BNI Folkestone. In fact, many of my clients have come as a result of my BNI membership, but that’s a topic for another blog post!

The Holistic Home
This beautiful and serene image was actually quite complex to create. For this, a two-meter softbox was used in conjunction with additional commercial lighting to provide a refined finished look.

Wendy was in need of corporate stock images for her website, social media marketing, print marketing and blogging platform. Following our free consultation, we were able to coordinate a series of shoots to provide her with a range of commercial and corporate images which have been a strong complement to her high-end wellness spa.

This photo of The Holistic Home New Romney was a supplemental photo created months after explosive growth forced Wendy to relocate to a larger premises.

Another project that came through my amazing networking group was this image created for The Grand hotel in Folkestone, Kent. The Grand was looking for a set of images to promote their renown hotel and bar, for which I was more than happy to accommodate.

This next photo was created during one of my free consultations with The Computer Lady in New Romney, Kent. Through my consultations, I look to give clients an understanding of how they’ll look through my lens. One of the best compliments that I’ve received was that upon delivery of their photos, the client remarked that they had everything it took to “look like the big boys”.

This recent project was created for another absolute favourite client, Qubit Interior Solutions Ltd. The highly regarded fit-out company approached me, again through my networking group, to create a series of commercial and corporate images for two newly completed projects

In addition to creating a series of images, we also created a number of powerful corporate Steadicam videos, giving them a unique edge over their competitors. This series of videos allowed for first person narration by their director Kyle McGimpsey.

This next photo was also created during my supplemental visit to The Holistic Home in New Romney. The highly commercial image of their Opi Nail Care products is a flexible and ubiquitous image that looks equally great on their website and marketing materials.

One of my first corporate clients of the season was Metroline Fire & Security. We were able to provide Metroline with a diverse set of images, including this commercial product image that is proudly displayed on Metroline’s website and marketing materials.

This next image was created for new client Martello Building Consultancy Ltd. This commercial image was created as part of a project for Inside Kent magazine and is one of my favourites of the summer, even though an alternative image of mine was chosen for actual inclusion in the magazine. Achieved through a complex mix of commercial and natural lighting, this highly impactful image features on my own website under the heading “The Art of Digital Storytelling“.

This next image was recently created for Light Fantastic Production Services Ltd. to highlight one of their signature installations at the Truman Brewery in London. Light Fantastic offers full production event service including lighting, rigging, sound, video and set design.

In between all the corporate shooting I even managed to squeeze in a couple holidays. This little image was created over the weekend in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Back to work and a tasty image that was created for another client won through my amazing networking group, BNI Folkestone. Created for Aboyne Steakhouse in New Romney, this commercial image makes my mouth water every time I see it!

Another personal favourite is the following image, created for Qubit Interior Solutions Ltd., this time in Manchester and of their recently completed fit-out for Kaplan Financial.

And as the sun continues to set on an amazing summer, we hope we’ve given you plenty of reasons to invest in commercial imaging and corporate media. We look at every project as an opportunity to add value to our clients’ services and for our clients’ businesses and I can’t tell you how pleasing it is to do so. We love what we do and we don’t mind saying it. If you’re an ambitious business owner, and your growth plan includes images and or video, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re passionate. We’re precise. And we love creating beautiful images.

Beauty is a state of mind.

I’m a commercial photographer, based in Kent and I specialise in creating dynamic, eye-catching images for my clients. My images are created to add value to every message conveyed across the spectrum of digital and offline platforms alike, including websites, brochures, blogs, social media channels, case studies and any other medium as required. My clients range from BAFTA award winners, multi-national building firms, television personalities and heads of state to local businesses, respected artists and ambitious entrepreneurs. I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas (U.S.A.), and after a stint as a lab technician followed by time out to travel, I began a career as a production rigger, working primarily in television and film. This experience allowed me to become accustomed to pressurised working environments and a demanding clientele! In 2011, I began studying at the London Film Academy, which eventually led to me devoting my time and training to becoming a commercial photographer. Whether you have a specific project in mind or you’re looking for a complete brand identity overhaul, I’d love to hear from you. You can email me at or give me a call on +44 77 6666 1253.
