Crabble Corn Mill – Beer & Cider Festival 2017

Having just moved to River back in October, I’ve been slowly but steadily integrating myself into the lovely village community. For anyone who’s been, River is a fantastically special place and the warm and inviting residents make it a joy for me to call it home.

This past weekend, I was invited to the Crabble Corn Mill Beer & Cider Festival, a much-anticipated event that takes place twice annually. I was invited by my fellow BNI Folkestone member Keith Dugard of K D Contract Specialist Cleaners who’s band Shameless was slated to ensure the night’s festivities. It was a truly great experience, filled with loads of pleasant people enjoying a brilliant night of fun and community.

The early evening mood was no indication of the near maelstrom that would ensue.

These guys were absolutely awesome. Shameless really know how to anchor a great party.

I did feel very important with my official guest pass. The festival organizers were all so lovely and over the years they’ve worked out a brilliant system for keeping the festival goers pleased.

The vibe on the sold-out Friday was overwhelmingly positive and communal. I had loads of conversations with random Dovarians and people from River and further afield.

The festival took place throughout the Crabble Corn Mill‘s grounds and made for a beautifully intimate environment that allowed everyone to let their hair down, as well as relax in their own peace and comfort.

There were dozens of beers and ciders to choose from and I enjoyed the pleasure of sampling a rather substantial variety! Of particular note were the #56 – Strikes Back from Empire Brewing, Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire, #59 – American Craft Ale from Partners Brewery, Liversedge, West Yorkshire, #6 – Plough from G2 Brewing, Ashford, Kent and from the cider selection #2 – Toffee Apple from Kent Cider Company, Canterbury, Kent. There were others and they were marvelous, but their names long forgotten amidst a night of merry sing-alongs full of new friends and a brilliant experience.

Awesome music, smiling faces and a fantastic selection of great beers. Priceless? No, Shameless!

This was about when the scene started to become raucous and photography took a back seat to beer consumption.

A few of the awesome people I met on this totally awesome evening. They tried to convince me to come play rugby with them for the upcoming season before commencing in a playful game of sternly punching one another in the forehead. I gleefully declined their offer, lol!
